Nomura, Asia’s global investment bank, announced that it is
continuing to strengthen its Investment Banking Division with six recent senior appointments in
the Americas, including Head of Equity Capital Markets for the Americas.

upon its investment banking franchise in the Americas, which is focused on providing clientcentric
advice and financing solutions,” said James DeNaut, Head of Americas Investment
Banking. “We are pleased to welcome these talented and experienced bankers to our team, their
expertise and leadership will help to contribute to our growth.”
The six senior appointments, all based in New York, are as follows:
- Mark Connelly will join Nomura at the end of November as a Managing Director and Head of Equity Capital Markets for the Americas. Prior to joining Nomura, Mark served as Co-Global Head of Equity Capital Markets at Jefferies & Co. He built his career at UBS, which he joined as an Analyst in 1987, and rose to hold a variety of senior positions, including Head of U.S. Syndicate, Head of U.S. Equity Capital Markets, and Member of UBS Investment Bank’s U.S. Executive Committee. He has extensive experience, having raised Equity capital for governments and companies from every major geographic region, across all industry verticals, and through every important Equity product. Mark is an entrepreneur
who has built excellent teams at UBS and Jefferies.
- Garrett Carpenter joined Nomura as a Managing Director in the Acquisition Leveraged
Finance Group. He was most recently at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he spent
nearly 13 years in the Leveraged Finance Group, most notably as a Managing Director in
Leveraged Finance Capital Markets working on institutional first and second lien term loans
across the Consumer and Retail, Financial Institutions, Industrials and Technology verticals.
- Christina Park joined Nomura as a Managing Director in the Acquisition Leveraged Finance
Group. She has deep expertise in the Leveraged Finance space with over 13 years of
experience across various industry sectors working at Barclays and its predecessor, Lehman
Brothers, and at Citi. Most recently, Christina was as a Managing Director in Global
Leveraged Finance at Barclays, where she led a number of leveraged buyouts, acquisition
financings, leveraged recapitalizations and general capital raises.
- James Frawley joined Nomura as a Managing Director in the Industrials M&A Group. He
has significant experience in the M&A sector, holding senior roles at a number of financial
institutions, most recently as US Head of M&A at Macquarie Capital. His prior experience
includes a range of senior M&A positions, including Senior Managing Director and Head of
M&A at FBR Capital Markets, Co-Founder of Legacy Partners (a firm that was acquired by
FBR), and Director of M&A and Head of Chemicals M&A at Credit Suisse.
- Carl Torrillojoined Nomura as an Executive Director in the Industrials Investment Banking Group. Prior to Nomura, Carl served as Co-Founder and Chief Financial Officer of ACE Portal, Inc., which provides transaction management and marketing tools in support of private capital formation. Before ACE, Carl was a member of the Global Industrials Group at Citi, where he was most recently a Director.
- Peter Finn joined Nomura as an Executive Director in the Industrials M&A Group. Previously, he was a Senior Vice President in Macquarie Capital’s M&A Group, where he supported deal origination and provided transaction execution. Prior to Macquarie, he held a similar role at FBR & Co and Legacy Partners Group, a firm that was acquired by FBR. Peter began his career as an Analyst in the Global Industrial and Services Investment Banking Group at Credit Suisse.
