Dr. Ansgar Tietmeyer (45) is to take over as Head of Deutsche Bank’s Public Affairs department in Berlin on 1 February 2013. On behalf of the Management Board, he will cultivate Deutsche Bank’s relationships with ministries, authorities, political parties and members of parliament as well as coordinate relations within the bank.
Ansgar Tietmeyer is succeeding Thomas Matussek, who took over management of the Alfred Herrhausen Society in January. In his new role, Tietmeyer will report to Thorsten Strauß, Global Head of Communications, Corporate and Social Responsibility and Public Affairs.
Tietmeyer studied economics in Münster, Paris and Bonn and gained a PhD from the University of Bochum. He joined Deutsche Bank in 1996 and has worked in Frankfurt am Main, Düsseldorf and Paris. Since January 2006, he has been managing Deutsche Bank’s EU representation in Brussels as Delegate of the Management Board for EU affairs.
Dr. Stephan Leithner, member of the Management Board of Deutsche Bank with responsibility for Europe, said: "Ansgar Tietmeyer has actively and successfully represented Deutsche Bank’s interests vis-à-vis EU institutions in recent years and taken on responsibility in a number of committees. During the financial and sovereign debt crisis he was able to establish the bank as an active discussion partner for politicians and regulators in Brussels. His experience of European affairs and EU institutions will prove very useful in his new position in Berlin."
