Standard & Poor’s Paris is looking for an intern for its Utilities Department.

Standard and Poor’s is seeking a student or a junior professional to join its Southern European Utilities Team based in Paris as an Intern. We are seeking a motivated and fast learner candidate who can support our analytical team. The candidate will ideally have some analytical experience gained, for instance, in previous internships. This position will give the successful candidate the opportunity to have a stimulating analytical work experience in an international working environment.

_ THE TEAM

The Utilities’ department, part of the larger Corporate EMEA group, is responsible for rating power, gas and water companies/groups across Europe, Middle East and Africa. The team currently has 13 analysts around Europe, located in offices in Stockholm, London, Paris, Milan, Frankfurt and Moscow. This enables us to combine local expertise with a European vision.

_ KEY TASKS

The intern position entails performing and overseeing ad hoc and ongoing database and internal research projects. The candidate should assist analysts in sector research, preparing rating committees, updating reports, and preparing for management meetings. It encompasses a strong co-ordination role with other professionals in other Standard & Poor’s European offices.
The job involves a participation in almost each parts of the rating process. The candidate should have the potential to quickly gain an understanding of Standard & Poor’s rating methodology, policies and procedures as well as knowledge of corporate finance and analysis.

Experience:
We are looking for a pre-graduate student in a Grande Ecole or University in a Master Degree (or equivalent). Some working experience in a financial institution, an audit firm, or consultancy would be positively valued.

Technical requirements:
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Good knowledge of computer softwares, in particular excel.
- Able to understand regulatory and legal documentation.
- Some knowledge of accounting principles for Corporates
- Some understanding of the energy sector is a plus.
- Familiarity with financial models is a plus.

Languages:
- French-speaking + excellent proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Another language would be positively valued.
